Medical Assistant, Full Time

Primary Location:  Severn Bridge and Port Sydney

Position Description:  Medical Assistant to a primary care Nurse Practitioner (NP) practice, in two rural settings.  Responsible for smooth operation of the front desk, patient service in a busy collaborative work environment.

Including, but not limited to:

  • Book appointments and distribute messages.
  • Notify patients of appointments and diagnostic tests.
  • Addresses patient inquires on the phone and in person. 
  • Manage documents for office electronic medical record.
  • Experience with EMR, particularly Telus Health PS Suite.  
  • Participates in preventative care management.
  • Managing outgoing referrals and diagnostic testing for patients and incoming results. 
  • Maintain office supplies and overall office functioning.
  • Participates on organizational committees. 
  • Contributes to the mission, vision, and values of CCFHT.


  • Graduate of a medical administration program and or related office administration course preferred.
  • Previous related clerical experience in a medical practice or hospital setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Exemplary customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities while managing a high volume of phone calls and daily transactions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic IT issues. 
  • Experience working in a community setting.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Compensation:  Annual salary between $42,900 – $48,750 based on experience, comprehensive benefits package, and participation in Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP).
